Saddle Brook Council reorganizes, names David Garrick council president and approves routine appointments

David Garrick was elected council president and sworn in at Saddle Brook Township’s annual reorganization meeting, after the council nominated and approved his appointment effective Jan. 2, 2025. The voice vote and subsequent oath followed roll call confirming all council members were present.

The council also swore in three returning members: Florence Maser, Andrew M. Samuca and David Garrick. The meeting moved through a series of routine reorganizational actions, approving by voice vote a planning-board representative (appointing Florence Maser), the municipal accountant (Cox & Company), bond counsel (Rogan McCarthy), designation of legal newspapers, official depositories, petty cash procedures, and adoption of a temporary 2025 budget. The council adopted a resolution authorizing participation in the Defense Logistics Agency 1033 law-enforcement support program and a resolution supporting the Bergen County Chiefs Association mutual-aid plan; both passed by voice vote.

Mayor White presented a slate of mayoral appointments for advice and consent, which the council received and filed by roll call. Appointments read into the record included library trustee Andrea Montabano, public defender John Bruno and several subcode, engineering, legal and advisory positions. When items were placed before the body, motions were made, seconded and approved without recorded opposition.

“We are honored to serve and look forward to continuing the work for the community,” Council President David Garrick said after taking the oath. The meeting then opened to public comment before moving to council and mayor remarks on accomplishments and priorities for 2025. The meeting adjourned following the comments and council remarks.
