FLVS workshop previews reading plan, calendars, staff reports and student code of conduct for June agenda

He noted that the Florida Department of Education will release district allocations by July 1 after plan submission. "The reading plan must be approved by the FLVS board of trustees for the specific use of the evidence‑based reading instruction allocation," he said.
The workshop also covered proposed calendars: a 2026–27 FLVS employee calendar (personnel paid holidays) and a 2026–27 FLVS full‑time public school calendar used to verify instructional minutes and compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.
Dr. Algay also reviewed the FOVS report to the commissioner on district franchises for the 2024–25 year. He said FLVS supported 35 county virtual schools in that school year and reported 220,319 half‑credit enrollments across those partnerships.
On policies, the board will receive first readings and public‑notice authorization for multiple policy revisions and repeals, including a first reading of the proposed 2026–27 FLVS student code of conduct, which the presenter said all districts must adopt and distribute to stakeholders.
These items were presented as part of the consent and first‑reading packet; staff will provide full documents and recommended motions at the June 2 meeting for board consideration.
