Belton (Felton) Elementary gives final school presentation; district invites community for June event

Belton (referred to in remarks as Felton) Elementary School delivered the district''s final school presentation of the year, celebrating the campus''s 75-year history, arts and engineering programs and long-standing community partnerships.

Principal Norma Martinez introduced staff and students, described the school''s inclusion model and project-based engineering and math activities, and thanked partners such as Shoes That Fit, Operation Teddy Bear, DHL Express and others whose donations, the principal said, "augmented our success with their donations and investment in student success." Martinez invited board members and the community to a public celebration and community potluck at Felton Elementary''s cafeteria on June 10, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

First-grade student Victoria Ortiz addressed the board and audience, said she''d learned to read and play the violin at Felton and thanked teachers and parents for supporting her learning. The presentation included remarks about the school''s legacy of staff who began as students, tributes to long-serving employees and a short video illustrating inclusion practices.

Trustees thanked Martinez and Felton staff for the presentation and the nostalgia; no formal action was taken on the presentation itself. Presenters emphasized preserving the school''s legacy as the district moves through consolidation planning.
