Bob Watkins, executive director of the Lincoln Theatre, updated the Marion Town Council on the theater’s finances and plans on April 6. He said the theater closed the prior year with 12,662 tickets sold and $526,512 in gross ticket sales, noting that net revenue is reduced by artist fees and other costs.
Watkins said first‑quarter 2026 ticket sales were 2,635 with $104,758 in gross revenue, somewhat below projections. To stabilize operations and address capital needs (roof, HVAC systems, carpet), Watkins described diversifying revenue through improved marketing, promotion, and grants. He said he recently purchased Prism software for booking and contract management and expects it to help attract higher‑drawing acts and reduce back‑and‑forth settlement issues with performers.
Watkins said he is pursuing grants including a proposed $50,000 T‑Mobile construction and community building grant to fund capital work, and Tobacco Commission funds aimed at operations and performance matching. He also said local bar revenue adds modest per‑show profit and that local attendance has increased about 5 percentage points this year.
Council thanked Watkins for the update and affirmed support for grant-seeking and capital planning.
