Community group asks board to let it reuse old Mullins school for workforce and youth programs

The board thanked Hoy and the accompanying speakers for their work and encouraged further conversation about the building transfer process; board members noted that state rules require that closed schools be advertised and that charter or other 501(c)(3) applicants be given opportunity to apply before the board decides on a transfer.
The board did not take formal action during public comment; Hoy said the group would follow the formal process and meet with district staff to pursue next steps.
