Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical honors top 10 seniors; valedictorian David Roy named

The Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical School Committee recognized the top 10 students of the class of 2026 during its meeting, with Assistant Superintendent/Principal Michael Barton reading each student’s biography and achievements.

Barton introduced the 10th through first ranked students, detailing technical programs, co-op placements, honors and postsecondary plans. Among those honored were Derek Orlando (ranked 10th, electrical, co-op at S&T Electric) and Joseph Antui Jr. (ranked 9th, cosmetology, licensed in Massachusetts). The list included students from programs such as health assisting, information technology services, electronics engineering and marketing.

Alyssa Berseron was recognized as the salutatorian and David Roy as valedictorian. According to the presentation, David Roy has earned multiple industry-recognized certifications in information technology services, leadership roles in student organizations, a legislative internship at the Massachusetts State House, and plans to attend Harvard University to study economics and government.

Superintendent Davis and committee members offered congratulations to the students and staff. Student representative Anna Deona, who spoke later in the meeting, said she will attend Assumption University in the honors program and the School of Nursing.

The recognition segment included announcements about commencement logistics: graduation rehearsal on Monday, June 8, and graduation on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The committee also noted SkillsUSA state results and that several students qualified for the national conference pending travel approval.

The committee did not take a formal vote on the recognition itself; it was presented as part of the superintendent’s report and celebrated by members and attendees.
