Forest Park approves SBC Waste Solutions contract amendment; new service to be publicized and staged

The Village Council authorized an amendment to the contract with SBC Waste Solutions Inc. to provide waste, recycling and landscape collection services for the village (resolution R46-26).
Commissioner Melan Reggoven moved the resolution and Commissioner Vogue seconded; the vote was unanimous among members present. Staff thanked public works and residents for cooperation during the transition and said SBC would coordinate direct outreach to households. Because the week of the meeting included a holiday, staff asked SBC to delay the full service launch until June 10 so the village has time to distribute a mailer, update the village newsletter and share social media notices.
Council members acknowledged that operational hiccups are likely during a contractor transition. Staff said they would confirm regular weekly pickup days (the contract references Wednesday pickups but the first week may vary for the holiday) and provide recycling guidance to residents. SBC and village staff will communicate details to residents in the coming days.
The resolution was recorded as R46-26. Council also approved related operational resolutions on fire engine repair and infrastructure items during the same meeting.
