Planning Commission backs two-year extension for tentative tract map 7421

The Shafter Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend the City Council approve a two-year discretionary extension of time for tentative tract map 7421.

Clarissa Olz, an associate planner, told the commission that the project site is north of Eagle Creek Drive and east of Community Drive, within the Gossamer Grove specific plan. She said the tentative tract map proposes to subdivide approximately 1,840 gross acres into 97 single-family residential lots with lot sizes ranging from about 4,000 to 7,000 square feet. The council originally approved the tract map on March 21, 2023, with a two-year expiration on March 21, 2025; the applicant requested the first allowable discretionary extension to push the expiration to March 21, 2027.

"This is the first allowable discretionary extension of time available for this tract map," Olz said, and recommended adoption of Resolution 25-457 to forward the extension request to the City Council subject to the conditions previously approved on March 21, 2023.

Commissioner Simmons moved to adopt Resolution 25-457; Commissioner Kamacho seconded. The clerk recorded roll call votes: Commissioners Kamacho, Simmons and Yosan voted yes. Commissioners Sanchez and Piser were recorded as excused. The motion passed, and the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council consider and act on the extension request.

No members of the public spoke during the hearing on this item. The resolution and the record will be forwarded to the City Council for its consideration and final action.
