Board adopts initial collective bargaining proposals for educators and classified staff

We need to be able to afford having health coverage for our families,” she said. Martinez told the board mediation had begun and urged a serious district offer at the next session.
Following the public hearing, the board adopted the educators’ proposals by roll call (four aye, one absent). The board then opened and closed a public hearing on the district’s proposals to the classified organization and adopted that proposal as well by roll call.
What’s next: The district and unions will proceed to mediation and bargaining; the board’s action places the district’s initial positions formally on the table for negotiations.
