Chula Vista board appoints three new elementary principals

Clerk Tolson announced the appointments during closed-session announcements: Marisa Maldonado was approved as principal for Salt Creek Elementary; Denise (who introduced herself as Denise Sembranos) was approved for Eastlake Elementary; and Jillian (who introduced herself as Jillian Musa) was approved for Saburo Muraoka Elementary. Each appointment passed by roll call vote with four trustees voting aye and one absent.
After the announcements, each new principal spoke from the lectern. Marisa Maldonado said she was “very grateful to be able to serve the Chula Vista community.” Denise Sembranos thanked the board and said she was excited to “lead Eastlake Elementary” and join the Eastlake community. Jillian Musa expressed appreciation for the opportunity and said she was glad to be staying at Morro Bay.
Trustees offered congratulations and applause following the announcements. The appointments were recorded in the meeting’s closed-session disclosures as approved public employee appointments under Government Code Section 54957.
What’s next: Each newly appointed principal will assume their respective duties per district timelines; the district did not provide specific start dates during the meeting.
