"We're just going to put a driveway apron in front of it," Halibane said while describing site constraints and grading to divert water around the garage. He told the board that moving the garage farther from the road would require more disturbance of steep slopes and could conflict with an existing septic area.
The applicant told the board that the proposal has already been before the zoning board, which is being asked for relief from the front-yard setback; the conservation board noted that, even if the garage were moved, driveway access could still require a wetlands permit because of proximity to the creek. Board members asked staff to arrange a flagged site visit so members can see the proposed building corners and better assess impacts before making a recommendation to the zoning board.
No permit decision was made at the meeting; the board said it will conduct a site visit and follow up at a future session.
