The Sheriff’s Department reported that a suspect was apprehended in a recent church fire investigation and that license-plate-recognition cameras helped recover a stolen truck that contained about $2,500 in equipment. Captain McChristion was introduced and the transcript records that Deputy Valencia will assume the Bloomington assignment; station vacancies were reported filled, allowing for more proactive policing.
Code Enforcement listed current matters including a collapsed church roof at 988 Olive Ave (boarding and review), an inspection at 19080 Valley Blvd related to stolen vehicles, seven food vending citations with four court dates assigned in January, a truck terminal violation near Taylor that returned to compliance, and enforcement actions at a car auction site on Valley Boulevard. Residents raised concerns about homeless encampments and a fire behind the Taylor embankment, recycling centers not being maintained, and tire dumping at Valley & Linden and Locust & Taylor.
