Pullman board approves budget-extension resolution and next year’s meeting schedule

The Pullman School District Board of Directors voted to approve a general-fund budget extension and adopted the board calendar for 2026–27 at its regular meeting.
Finance presenter Bob explained that the midyear budget extension is intended to build capacity for additional running-start and special-education revenues and expenditures, given a higher-than-expected special-education caseload. "We have to make sure that we have the budget capacity for any additional funds that will come in," he said, adding that the auditors expect capacity to be shown even if exact spending later changes.
During the public hearing on the 2025–26 general fund budget extension, a community speaker representing special-education interests said the district now serves roughly 440 students receiving special-education services and urged the board to include proactive consulting and planning in next year’s budget to meet rising needs.
Board members approved Resolution 2526 (to revise and extend the 2025–26 general fund budget) and approved the proposed 2026–27 board meeting schedule. Board members noted the schedule can be adjusted during the year as needed.
Board officials said the extension does not commit the district to spending the full authorized amount immediately; rather, it creates capacity to accept and allocate additional revenue if student counts and program needs change.
