Road closures and hydrant work set for Bloomington this spring and summer
Summary
County and West Valley Water District staff told the Bloomington MAC that multiple road closure phases will continue through summer 2026 for street improvements and a hydrant system project will clean and reactivate bagged hydrants; residents will be notified by mail and email.
County staff presented the Bloomington Roadwork Improvements Project timeline and schedule, telling the MAC that Locust Avenue will remain closed until April 2026 and Jurupa Avenue will be under partial closure through July 2026. Work on 11th Street was described as nearing completion by March 2026, and Armstrong Street is scheduled for a full closure from April through August 2026 for the final phase of construction.
Bob Vezutto, the project presenter, said residents would receive direct mail and email updates about closures and detours. The MAC was told the schedule is phased to complete critical segments while minimizing overall disruption.
Separately, West Valley Water District reported ongoing hydrant work as part of the Bloomington Main Alleyway Project, which began construction in December and is expected to finish by the end of summer. The district said it maintains about 1,500 hydrants in Bloomington, that inactive hydrants are bagged and the water system will be cleaned and disinfected before reactivation. Community concerns about inactive hydrants and water quality will be reviewed as construction completes.
No formal decisions by the MAC were recorded on the roadwork or hydrant projects during the meeting; staff said they will continue to update the community as construction progresses.
