Superintendent highlights student achievements, 99% kindergarten proficiency and ParentSquare rollout

During the superintendent’s report, district leadership highlighted a set of academic and extracurricular accomplishments and discussed efforts to improve communications and safety planning.

The superintendent reported 25 scholarship recipients totaling $80,232 and noted several student recognitions: a baseball player, Drew Bingaman, had surpassed school all‑time hits and strikeout records; the high school band and choir earned gold ratings at an ISSMA competition; and several students completed internships and CTE pathways (26 CTE students, 32 internship students). The superintendent said 33 students are graduating with at least 15 Ivy Tech credits, eight students graduated at semester and seven juniors are graduating early.

On early-education outcomes, the superintendent reported that kindergarten end‑of‑year benchmark proficiency was at 99 percent. The board record contains the superintendent’s announcement of that percentage; the meeting did not include district data attachments for independent verification.

The superintendent described Project Adam Heart Safe School activities led by Mr. Andy Bass and said the district plans to expand emergency response planning. The meeting also included a status update on ParentSquare: the district is in a soft launch phase and is asking staff and parents to sign up and update contact information to ensure receipt of urgent notifications.

Upcoming events and dates were reiterated: preschool graduation May 19, Ag Day May 13, academic awards/corporation breakfast May 15, incentive trip May 18 and graduation scheduled for Sunday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trojan Trench. The superintendent closed by thanking teachers, staff and the PTO for their support.
