Bordeaux, Evergreen honored; Shelton students advance to state competitions

The board recognized Bordeaux and Evergreen Elementaries for placement in the top 10% of Washington elementary schools for year-to-year growth between 2023 and 2024. Superintendent Jesse and board members praised staff and teachers for improvements in English language arts, math and, in Evergreen's case, attendance.
Scott Chamberlain reported on spring athletics: the fast-pitch team advanced to the state tournament — the program’s first appearance in about 31 years — and district athletes named as state participants included Hunter Daggett (discus), Trayson Bartholomew (District 4 3A 800m champion), Claire Warnock (100m and 300m hurdles) and Andrea Fogo (qualified in the 3A district golf tournament). "Our fast pitch team won and then continued to win and advanced to the state tournament," Chamberlain said.
Student board representatives Alan Ramirez, Abigail and Sophia Todd gave end-of-year reports on school events, senior activities and extracurricular highlights. Board members thanked the students for their service and presented appreciation items.
Board members noted graduations scheduled in early June and encouraged community attendance at ceremonies.
