The ordinance will be implemented in the town’s billing system after the vendor (Keystone) completes its updates, a process the attorney estimated could take six to eight weeks.
"That begins January 1st," the town attorney said when asked about the effective date; he also noted the need to run the required legal advertisement before the ordinance becomes effective. Council members moved to adopt the ordinance at the meeting and the motion carried by voice vote.
Town staff said they would begin coordination with Keystone so the new rates are applied in billing systems once the ordinance is in effect. The council did not amend the rate percentage at the meeting; members discussed outreach and posting the notice on the town’s channels after turning off public comments on the town Facebook posts.
