Board approves SRO MOU, camera upgrades and keeps meal prices flat for 2026–27

The board approved a memorandum of understanding for the school resource officer program and a district security camera project at its May 21 meeting, and trustees voted to keep meal prices the same for the 2026–27 school year.
On the SRO MOU, staff described the agreement as functionally the same as prior arrangements with a 50/50 cost share; presenters said language about a police dog was removed because that officer is retiring. The board approved the MOU by unanimous roll call.
Operations staff described the camera project and savings from reusing existing equipment. “We saved about eight 360 fisheye cameras that we had put into the junior high. We pulled those out and we’re reusing I think six of those at the high school,” Jeff said, explaining the replacement versus reuse plan and noting the upgrades will integrate with the district’s existing head‑end system. Trustees approved the camera purchase and installation by unanimous vote; staff said upgrades will focus on playground blind spots at elementary schools and older cameras at the high school.
Board members also approved meal prices for 2026–27 with no increase from the current year.
During operations discussion trustees asked about local road work; staff reported paving and minor sidewalk patching remain and said crews worked to avoid peak school pickup times. The board later voted to enter executive session to discuss personnel and potential litigation.
