Longmont Police honored with national CALEA accreditation after three‑year review

Accreditation manager Marquee Bickner and Chief of Staff Steve Schultz were singled out for leading the effort. Matt Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol and a CALEA commissioner, presented the accreditation certificate and praised Longmont Public Safety’s professionalism and commitment to updating policies to match current standards.
Council members applauded the department and asked clarifying questions about the assessment process and CALEA’s scope; staff said the process combines a department self‑assessment with external review and annual follow‑up to maintain standards. The department will continue to report use‑of‑force statistics and policy compliance as part of ongoing accreditation requirements.
