A member said the sign should be reusable and generic (for future events) and asked Recreation staff how to mount it if needed.
Members agreed the table should feature an activity to draw families, suggesting simple crafts (bird-feeders from used bottles), a mini photo booth or temporary tattoos for children so parents stop and engage. "You need an activity to draw the family over," one member said, adding that volunteers could sign up for short shifts to staff the table.
The commission also discussed adding a sneaker-collection as a Greenfest feature to divert footwear from landfill. A member described a local program that pays $3–$7 per pair depending on condition and otherwise recycles worn shoes; Wayside School was cited as an existing local collection point. The member recommended bins or large bags for collection and said the EC could coordinate drop-off with an existing school or nonprofit partner.
Members discussed promotional outreach items: past seed-packet giveaways drawn from leftover 5K materials, and the possibility of low-cost on-demand printing for EC shirts or packets. The group agreed to explore vendors, keep orders modest and reuse materials across events.
Next steps: members will circulate availability by email to staff a Greenfest table, staff will confirm table logistics with Recreation, and volunteers will follow up on sneaker-collection partners and inexpensive print vendors. No binding expenditures beyond previously allocated funds were approved during the meeting.
