Authority reports progress on Porter Road WWTP review, lateral televising and pump station repairs

Engineer Fred Ebert updated the Authority on the proposed Porter Road wastewater treatment plant and related regulatory review at the Jan. 12 meeting.
Mr. Ebert said EPA and DEP asked for three additional proposed discharge locations after they misinterpreted a concrete abutment as a dam; he sent photos to clarify the situation and expects updated project cost estimates by the end of January. He also reported that DEP requested justification for additional EDUs; Mr. Ebert told the board the Township has substantially more than the four hundred EDUs referenced and provided a breakdown including planning approvals and proposed future developments.
On corrective action work, Mr. Ebert said the Authority televised about 160 laterals in 2025 with an approximate 27% failure rate, largely low-lying cleanouts. The Authority recorded a single SSO in 2025 — the lowest annual SSO count reported — attributed to an electrical failure. Mr. Ebert plans an analysis for DEP to show the impact of recent wet months.
Sewer Operator Tim Watson reported operational fixes: resolved Villa Drive controller settings, replaced two buried diesel fuel lines for a Sanatoga Lake diesel pump, and is working to repair an exhaust fan at Porter Road. Mr. Watson is compiling a master list of laterals needing Township-side repairs; Manager Wagner said the Authority will coordinate with Sewer Specialties when planning main-lining and other 2026 projects. The board also approved allocation of one EDU to 1108 Bleim Road to allow a property connection for an estate sale.
The updates proceed as the Authority refines project scopes and coordinates with DEP and EPA on required technical details and permitting.
