Catskill trustees approve bills, certify fire election, appoint P&Z secretary and hire police officer

The Village of Catskill Board of Trustees on Jan. 22 approved routine business and several personnel and event items, including payment of audited bills, certification of the Catskill Fire Department election results, appointment of a Planning & Zoning Board secretary and hiring of a police officer.
On a unanimous vote the board approved payment of audited bills for Jan. 22, 2025: General Fund A $47,253.45; Water Fund F $44,474.15; Sewer Fund G $9,919.81. The motion to approve payment of audited bills was made by Vice President Natasha Law and seconded by Trustee Daniel Ward.
The board certified the Catskill Fire Department election results, naming Ed Dolan as Fire Chief, William Smith as 1st Assistant Chief and Brian Rinaldi as 2nd Assistant Chief. The certification was approved unanimously on a motion by Trustee Daniel Ward and seconded by Vice President Natasha Law.
Stephan Bradicich reported a follow-up on the Catskill Comedy Festival, saying the “event was successful” and thanking the board and police for their support; he said planning is underway for a 2025 event. The board also granted permission to the Thomas Cole House to hang banners on Village lampposts after a unanimous vote.
The trustees appointed Carrie Dashow to the position of Planning & Zoning Board secretary, effective Jan. 22, 2025. The board also approved the hiring of a police officer listed in the minutes as Luis Martinez-Perez (the minutes also reference "Luis Martinez" in one line); that hiring motion passed unanimously.
During discussion, Trustee Daniel Ward raised amendments he would like to consider to the 2024 Memorandum of Agreement for the Cus D'Amato gym; Kyle Lyles described changes in management, use of a trainer and a system to track gym users, and trustees said further discussion about the stage area is forthcoming. Public comment included an inquiry from Adam about gym access and a question from Dawn Moyer seeking an update on a complaint regarding 22 Liberty St. The meeting adjourned at 7:29 P.M.
