At the Jan. 8 Village of Catskill Board meeting Vice President Natasha Law reported that merchants and residents had asked the board to consider an annual village parking permit that would reduce the need to feed meters and limit ticketing.
Village Attorney Wayne Thompson told trustees that creating a permit program would require a local ordinance and that the board would need to address enforcement mechanisms, including how permits would be charged and monitored in lots currently described as free.
Trustees discussed concerns but made no final decision; the minutes record that the item will be addressed at a future meeting. No motion to draft an ordinance or set a public hearing on the issue is recorded in the minutes.
