The Village of Catskill Board of Trustees on Jan. 8 approved payment of audited bills, ratified two operator appointments and voted to make the interim Department of Public Works superintendent a permanent employee.
President Joe Kozloski opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the board unanimously accepted department reports for December 2024, the treasurer’s report and the Dec. 18, 2024 meeting minutes.
On a motion that passed unanimously the trustees approved payment of audited bills for Dec. 24, 2024 and Jan. 8, 2025. The board recorded the line-item fund amounts as presented: General Fund A (Dec. 24 — $76,649.08; Jan. 8 — $130,847.51), Water Fund F (Dec. 24 — $11,340.66; Jan. 8 — $45,727.33) and Sewer Fund G (Dec. 24 — $1,961.69; Jan. 8 — $24,136.15). The trustee motion and second were recorded as passing unanimously.
The board also confirmed two personnel appointments previously effective in December: Brandyn Grasse was appointed Assistant Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator (effective Dec. 13, 2024, pending civil service testing in March) and David Coletti was appointed Water Filtration Plant Operator (effective Dec. 28, 2024). Both appointments were approved unanimously.
Trustees set two public hearings by unanimous motions: a hearing on the purchase of a fire truck for Jan. 22, 2025, and a hearing on an occupancy tax for Feb. 12, 2025.
After an executive session to discuss personnel at 7:15 p.m., the board returned to regular session at 9:15 p.m. and approved a motion to make the interim DPW superintendent a permanent appointment. The board adopted Resolution No. 1 of 2025 to formalize the appointment and job requirements. A roll call on that measure recorded President Joe Kozloski — Yes; Vice President Natasha Law — Yes; Trustee Dan Ward — Yes; Trustee Jamie Mitchell — absent; Trustee Jeff Workman — absent; the motion passed.
The meeting adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
Votes at a glance: the minutes record unanimous approvals for the December department reports, the treasurer’s report, minutes, the listed audited-bill payments and the two operator appointments; the permanent DPW appointment passed on a roll-call vote with three recorded yes votes and two absences.
