Kit Holmes, the contractor, described plans to replace 10 windows and outlined alternative grille options: internal grills between the glass (which ease maintenance) or applied external grills in a 6-over-1 pattern. Holmes said the applicants preferred either 6-over-6 with grills between the glass or 6-over-1 with applied grills if true between-the-glass grilles were not available.
After discussion about historical precedent in the neighborhood and the visual effects of high-performance glass, a commissioner moved to accept the application with the condition that replacement windows be 6-over-1 with external mullions (appliqué) and standard muntin width (approx. three-quarter inch) shown on the cut sheet. The commission voted in favor.
The board asked the applicant to include cut-sheet details about the muntin width and grille attachment on the submitted materials before finalization.
