Separate action — fire training props: The council then approved an action item authorizing the Longview Fire Department to purchase Class B live fire burn props in a first phase priced at $450,000. Chief Grimes said the equipment will allow the department to operate live fire training on its Eastman Road facility and to make that capability available to outside agencies for joint training. The chief said the purchase will realize more consistent, in‑city training opportunities after the previous facility was closed.
