The report said Officer Zim stopped a vehicle for suspended registration; during the stop an occupant was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody. The report also stated the occupant was found in possession of marijuana and other controlled substances.
Separately, the report said Officer Benning located a vehicle reported stolen that was traveling south on South Avenue. The suspect vehicle led officers on an extended pursuit; the driver fled on foot after crashing a retaining wall and was taken into custody in a heavily wooded area after a physical struggle. The report noted recovered evidence and that charges were being processed.
The public-safety segment also reminded residents of National Night Out on Aug. 6 and reiterated the township’s fireworks ordinance, which bans possession or use of consumer fireworks by anyone under 18, prohibits discharging fireworks within 100 feet of an occupied structure and restricts discharges after 10 p.m. Residents were advised to call 911 for violations.
