Residents press Buxton selectmen for clarity on West Buxton Bridge reroute and schedule

One resident said the Seven Falls bridge remains posted but is still being used by trucks and asked why both bridges could not be closed at once. The resident and others said they had not seen recent progress and asked for clearer timelines.
Officials told residents they had received paperwork and that the Maine Department of Transportation will hold a meeting in January with public works and area towns to present the project outlay and schedule. At the meeting a resident recited the current reroute plan as described to the public: “their plan is to go to Tory Hill, take a right, go to Hannifford, take a left on 4A,” and noted that corner work and Main Street repaving could affect timing. A participant said an originally projected spring start had shifted to “the spring after February of ’27.”
Selectmen encouraged residents to attend the DOT briefing in January for detailed information on closures and reroutes; no binding schedule or closure plan was announced at the Dec. 10 session.
