Public works director: ‘We’re now into plow season,’ says Buxton public works director

Public Works Director Kevin Kimble told the Buxton Selectmen on Dec. 10 that the town is winding down its digging and paving work and shifting to winter operations.
“We’re done with the digging season... we’re now into plow season,” Kimble said, summarizing months of ditching, shim work and paving and adding that the crew will overlay shimmed roads in next year’s budget. He also said two recent hires are on staff—one with prior DOT experience and one new to the trade—and both are performing well.
During questions, Kimble or board members reported that guardrails on Low Regip Road and Donald Road were completed this fall after delays since before the COVID pandemic, and that the finished work “came out nice.”
Kimble’s report covered operational readiness for winter, staffing levels, and a schedule for planned overlays, but the board did not take formal action on capital or staffing changes at this meeting.
The board will revisit capital paving and overlay plans during next year’s budget process.
