Wrenchler council approves truck purchase, appointments and routine contract renewals

The Wrenchler Common Council on Wednesday approved a slate of routine measures, voting to authorize a truck purchase for the Department of Public Works, appoint two members to the Wler Industrial Development Agency, ratify a 2026 animal-services agreement with Maggie Simmons, designate the city newspaper for legal notices and renew a police call-recording maintenance contract.
The council considered Resolution No. 1 to authorize the truck purchase for Public Works; with no questions on the floor the clerk called the roll and the motion was adopted seven in favor, none opposed. The chair opened the resolutions portion of the agenda before the votes were taken.
On Resolution No. 2 the council appointed Eric Andres and Andrew Kresmore to the Wler Industrial Development Agency. The motion passed with five in favor and two abstentions; individual votes by member were not specified in the transcript.
Resolution No. 3 ratified a 2026 agreement between the city and Maggie Simmons for mandated animal services under Articles 7 and 26 of the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law. The clerk called the roll and the motion passed seven in favor, none opposed.
The council also adopted a resolution appointing a commissioner of deeds, designated the city newspaper for official notices, and renewed a maintenance agreement between the Wrenchler Police Department and Business Electronics for the variant call-recording system; each of those measures passed on recorded roll calls with seven votes in favor and none opposed.
Earlier in the meeting council members and community presenters raised several routine operational items, including requests to replace roughly 20 street signs, reports of about 20 street lights out, a resident complaint about speeding on Washington Avenue that the Redstone Police Department agreed to monitor, and notice that a variance for a two-car garage at 106 Mountain View will go before the Zoning Board of Appeals next Monday.
The meeting adjourned after a roll-call motion; the next meeting of the Common Council is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
