The town manager, who began in the role Nov. 17, presented priorities including exploring DOT/UPI, CDBG and ARPA funding opportunities for road and capital projects, launching a new town website and agenda-management portal, and seeking help to finish FY25 audit reconciliation work.
On staff recommendation, the board voted to authorize the town manager to join the Maine Municipal Association (MMA) contingent on confirming sufficient funds in the dues line under the new MMA rate structure. The manager said MMA membership would provide access to pooled insurance products, free legal advice and training portals.
Separately, the board authorized up to $5,000 from the select-board contingency fund to hire outside bookkeeping or audit-prep assistance to accelerate FY25 reconciliations. The manager said temporary help and local audit-prep contractors could ensure the audit does not remain overdue; the board approved an initial $5,000 authorization and reserved the ability to revisit funding if more is required.
The manager also asked whether to pursue open-space plan funding and described potential grant pipelines. Board members signaled support for staff review and encouraged coordination with the finance committee on scheduling for the budget workshop series.
The actions were procedural approvals to enable staff to proceed; the board did not adopt new ongoing policy changes at this meeting.
