Superintendent presents evidence of progress as committee asks for clearer metrics and timelines

Superintendent Lucas Jigir presented the evidence he compiled for his 2025–26 evaluation, describing progress across four goal areas and laying out the district’s next steps to turn evidence into measurable outcomes.

The superintendent said the district crosswalked district improvement priorities to the evaluation standards, created a public budget book, launched owner-project-manager procurement for Washington Street Elementary renovations and recorded more than 200 classroom walkthroughs across pre-K–12. He said family and staff surveys are in the field and will provide baseline response-rate data to inform targets. "We were able to visit over 200 classrooms ... and then we debrief and come up with next steps," he said, describing the feedback loop that produced common instructional 'look-fors' and curriculum implementation guidance for K–5 literacy and math.

Committee members thanked the superintendent and several asked for clearer measurable outcomes, deadlines and district- and building-level response-rate baselines. Members requested examples of actions that followed walkthrough findings; the superintendent described one follow-up: principals, curriculum specialists and directors convened K–2 teachers to create shared implementation guidance for second-grade instruction based on walkthrough trends.

Committee next steps: members will submit formal feedback via the evaluation subcommittee Google form; the subcommittee will collate responses and the committee plans to vote on the evaluation at the next meeting. The superintendent said he will provide supporting evidence and specific outcome readouts as the surveys and walkthrough tallies are finalized.
