Franklin ZBA elects new chair, vice chair and clerk

The Franklin Zoning Board of Appeals on Jan. 22 elected officers for the board’s new membership. Janelle Lang was nominated and elected chair, Jennifer Williams was elected vice chair, and Isabelle Carter was elected clerk.
Building commissioner Gus Brown introduced the new members, noting two members had just been ratified by the Franklin Town Council. Chair Lang stated the board will aim to meet every other Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with a hybrid option for applicants and residents. Lang emphasized the board’s role in resolving requests that often fall in “gray areas” of the bylaws and asked members to review materials in advance and to request additional information when needed.
The board also reviewed meeting protocols: speakers must state full name and address before public comment, remote participants will be muted on entry and must use the raise‑hand function to speak, and turn‑around time for materials submitted within 48 hours may require tabling to a subsequent meeting.
The election was held at the start of the meeting and the officers took their roles for the remainder of the session.
