Holmdel schedules Friday special meeting after Supreme Court denies injunction in housing case

Holmdel Township Committee on Tuesday announced a special meeting for 10 a.m. Friday to consider steps required for fourth‑round affordable housing compliance after the U.S. Supreme Court denied a request for an injunction pending appeal.

Committee member (speaker 9) said the committee met in executive session Tuesday to discuss actions needed for the special meeting and that the township’s Affordable Housing Council, led by Andy Bayer, is finalizing items for the committee’s consideration. "The special meeting is scheduled for this Friday," the committee member said.

Mayor Impreveduto and committee members said the denial of the injunction requires the township to move forward with compliance steps. The committee member added that the resolution on the special meeting provides the necessary detail and that final agenda materials will be posted in advance.

The meeting will be procedural and focused on compliance actions; committee members did not announce specific ordinances or votes to be taken at Friday’s session. The administration said the Affordable Housing Council’s finalized materials will be available with the advanced agenda.

The committee’s announcement followed a public discussion of pilot revenue and other agenda items; the special meeting was scheduled to allow the township to act within legal timelines related to state and federal housing requirements.

The committee did not vote on housing policy on Tuesday and said the Friday meeting will include the specific actions and documents for formal consideration.
