Camarillo adopts annual landscape assessment resolution; Zone 9 increase recommended

City staff presented the annual engineer’s report and recommended the council adopt the resolution ordering the levy and collection of assessments for Camarillo Landscape Maintenance District Zones 1 through 10.
Mr. Cruz (city staff) explained that assessments fund maintenance, operation and servicing of public landscaping, open space, and stormwater/detention improvements in each zone. He said the engineer’s report identifies the recommended assessments for FY 2026‑27 and highlighted that Zone 9 is proposed for an increase; zones marked with an asterisk lack an escalator clause and would require a Prop 218 property‑owner vote for increases beyond the maximum.
Mr. Cruz reminded the council that the city previously sought an increase for Zone 3 (from $69.24 to $140) in 2022 but that property owners opposed the increase, so the city’s general fund subsidizes a portion of Zone 3 maintenance.
Council opened the public hearing; no members of the public spoke. The council then voted unanimously to adopt the resolution ordering the levy and collection of assessments for Zones 1–10 as set forth in the engineer’s report.
