She said the dock expansion was about 70% on schedule with roughly 44.6% of contract payouts completed for that element of the work and that the international span had been set and its deck work installed by the crane contractor.
Longoria said digital message boards and the overhead signage structure are being installed and that contractors are progressing on the commercial vehicle parking lot (reported at about 63% on time, with lower payout percentage). She reported that JMJ and Hidalgo Irrigation District No. 2 have begun moving pumps so that US‑side connector work can proceed and said staff expect the connector work to start in the coming week.
Bridge Director Lis Bassan also briefed the board, saying connector pours and crossover work have been completed in record time and that staff anticipate being “almost at the finish line.” Bassan told the board the schedule is not set in stone but offered a potential operational window of May–June and an October timeframe for a formal inauguration event if milestone and permitting conditions are met.
What happens next: staff will continue construction oversight, coordinate with Hidalgo Irrigation District No. 2 on relocations needed for the connector, and return to the board with schedule confirmations and any permitting updates.
