Dennis conservation commission approves multiple septic and shoreline projects, issues variances

The Town of Dennis Conservation Commission approved a string of permits and determinations for septic-system upgrades, shoreline repairs and building work and granted several variances under the town wetlands bylaw.
The commission closed the public hearing and issued a Positive 5 determination — meaning the area or work is subject to review under the town wetlands bylaw — and a Negative 3 determination for the 148 Indian Trail septic upgrade in Dennisport after hearing from Tim Woznick of Rovio Water about replacing the existing septic tank with a Microfast treatment unit and reducing impervious area. "Weare not changing the leaching here," Woznick said; the existing leaching field will remain in place and the new tank will include the treatment unit.
At 46 Baxter Street in South Dennis, Darren Meyer described an addition and moving the septic to the front yard with a denitrification treatment system sized for three bedrooms. The commission voted to issue a Positive 5 determination and a Negative 2 determination (within a protected area but not altering it) as moved and seconded by members and called by the chair.
The commission approved the town-filed emergency shoreline repair at 79 Old Fish House Road (Kelly's Bay) as an interim fix while an upgradient watershed study proceeds, and granted a variance to allow short-term work within the 50-foot buffer. For 32 Center Street, the commission approved removal of an existing barn and construction of a new, relocated structure, granting a variance to allow limited work into the 50-foot buffer.
Commissioners also approved the combined notice of intent and certificate of compliance work on Susuet/Sisuit Neck Road (files combined for Lot 1 and the certificate-closeout for 59 Susuet Neck Road) and instructed staff to draft orders of conditions and include ongoing mitigation maintenance and monitoring where requested.
