Director reports grant application for LED lighting and summarizes operations, staffing and exhibits

Kevin said staff applied for an Indiana Office of Energy Development grant to support replacing conventional stage lighting with LED fixtures and that the application requested roughly $200,000 toward the project. He explained that the full technical upgrade requires rack upgrades (estimated about $250,000) and additional fixtures and instruments (staff cited a package estimate of roughly $500,000–$550,000), so the project would likely proceed piecemeal if the grant is awarded.
On licensing, Kevin said a state form change and timing constraints meant staff would delay applying for a new liquor permit that would expand offerings to mixed cocktails so as to avoid paying duplicate renewal and extension fees; as a result, mixed cocktails will not be available in the fall season currently being planned.
On staffing and programming, Kevin said 19 applicants applied for the open position; 12 were sent phase-two mail applications with an April 17 return date and interviews to follow. Emily and Casey provided exhibit and education updates, including recent sold work from youth art month, two new exhibits (Art Guild and Ronda Smith), activity planning for Chalkwalk and the fourth annual Soup Port on April 19, and summer Camp Create and Juneteenth plans.
Kevin said staff will report back if the Office of Energy Development grant is awarded and will coordinate with finance and counsel before entering any agreements.
The board heard the report and had no formal votes tied to the grant at this meeting.
