Vestal board approves fireworks permit, town‑property use and state agreement; accepts donations and personnel hires

- Parks donations: acceptance of $200 from the CNY Senior Softball League to be allocated into the sports field maintenance line, and acceptance of $1,474.31 from Roger Kern to purchase a bench for the rail trail (funds to be deposited in the buildings and grounds maintenance line).
- Personnel: Recreation hires recommended by Patrick Caran were approved, including a hiking director and a fall team basketball supervisor; the board noted background checks were completed and pay rates were budgeted in the 2025 budget.
- Transportation/State projects: Town engineer Thomas Sullivan was designated the responsible local official for NYSDOT project administration and use of the equitable business opportunities (EBO) system.
- Public safety traffic control: a temporary closure request was approved to permit a portion of Murray Hill Road to be closed on Oct. 14, 2025 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to accommodate Simch Torah participants; the rabbi and organizers will work with police and hire off‑duty officers.
