Pavilion delivery delayed; board says electric hookup, rental rate still to be set

The East Lampeter Township Park Board heard updates on a new pavilion project and related site work, with delivery delayed by winter weather and pending utility design. Chair Jim Everheart said the township has ordered the pavilion and is awaiting site and utility work before scheduling delivery and use.

“We have material to run through the water line. Just waiting for the weather,” Chair Jim Everheart said, summarizing staff’s status report on the project. Board members said a work order from PPL for electric service has been issued, but meters must be installed and trenching completed before the pavilion can be energized. That utility work will determine the construction schedule and whether the pavilion will be available by late March or possibly by Memorial Day.

Board members also discussed rental logistics. The group agreed the new pavilion’s capacity is similar to the Clark family pavilion and suggested using comparable rental rates; the board said finer details will be set once design information and final delivery dates are confirmed. The park staff noted stormwater and land-development requirements for related site features, including a proposed basketball court, and said an engineer will need to be engaged to satisfy zoning requirements.

Jacob Bowen, the plant director mentioned during the meeting, was identified as the staff contact to follow up on items that must pass through the township’s land-development review. The board did not set firm dates or a rental fee at the meeting and said decisions will be returned to a future agenda once utility design and delivery dates are confirmed.

The board approved the meeting minutes from Jan. 28 earlier in the session and moved on to other business.
