Select Board approves Eversource conduit request and names COG grant administrator; defers action on pickleball dispute

At its April 6 meeting the Mashpee Select Board took several routine but substantive actions: it closed a public hearing and unanimously approved an Eversource petition to install approximately 25 feet of 2–4 inch conduit in the right‑of‑way of Job's Fishing Road; it authorized the town manager to award the FY2025 Community Development Block Grant administration contract to Community Opportunities Group to run the Mastery Housing Rehabilitation Program; and it accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Kujawski from the Council on Aging effective March 11, 2026.
Public hearing notice WO number 20538068 described the Eversource installation as necessary "to provide system improvements and increased reliability to Job's Fishing Road." Julie Long, filling in for Eversource right‑of‑way agent Jessica Elder, answered board questions; no public comment was received and the board voted to approve the request.
Staff reported the town received $850,000 in FY2025 CDBG funds for housing rehabilitation. Ashley, the town grants coordinator, recommended awarding administration of the grant to Community Opportunities Group, which has assisted the town with homeowner repairs and operates local office hours. The board approved the award on a motion that included the condition that contract execution be contingent upon successful negotiations and EOHLC approval, as required by the RFP/Q.
The board also accepted a letter of resignation from Elizabeth Kujawski to the Council on Aging and approved routine minutes from March 16 and March 23, 2026.
Votes noted in the record were unanimous where taken; roll calls recorded the five members present voting yes.
The board took no action April 6 on the Ashumet Road pickleball dispute; staff will place materials provided by a resident on a future agenda after members have had time to review them.
