Baldwin County schools report $94.6M general-fund balance at FY25 close

Shane, speaking during the board’s financial report, said Baldwin County Public Schools closed fiscal year 2025 with a general-fund balance of $94.6 million, representing roughly $5.8 million in excess of revenues over expenses for the year. "Our one-month reserve is right at $39 million," he said, noting the district's reserve equates to approximately 2.43 months.
Shane provided a summary of the district’s budget-to-actual figures: total general-fund revenues for the fiscal year were about $467 million and general-fund expenditures about $374 million. He said the district’s local tax base remains strong; September local revenue was $29.1 million, an increase of about $3.5 million from the same month the prior year. The 1% sales-tax monthly collections were $6.7 million, up roughly $350,000 from the previous month.
Shane told the board the figures were reconciled but not yet audited; auditors met with the district on the day of the report and staff expected the formal audit to begin within weeks. "These numbers are reconciled and the banks are reconciled to our records; they are still unaudited," he said.
Next steps: staff will complete the district audit and provide the final audited financial statements to the board when available.
