The Berne City Council recessed into a public hearing for the pre‑adoption of the 2026 budget and heard no public comment. The council then introduced ordinance 791, which sets the adopted budget, adopted tax levy and adopted tax rate, and includes designated home‑ruled funds for law enforcement continuing education and public safety.
The budget total presented at the meeting was $4,547,210. Council set adoption for the Oct. 14 meeting and staff said they will submit the ordinance to TLG within two days of the introduction. No substantive amendments were proposed during the meeting.
The council directed staff to proceed with the statutory submission process and noted the adoption date on the calendar.
