Cortland council issues community proclamations, approves several event permits and routine purchases

The council also approved a 'Fill the Boot' fundraiser permit for the Disabled American Veterans (Memorial Chapter 153) on Nov. 9; the DAV commander described veteran outreach and suicide‑prevention work. Equipment, positions and routine approvals: The council accepted a low bid from Jerome Fire Equipment for large‑diameter hoses ($46,825) and authorized the mayor to sign the contract. It also approved creating a confidential secretary position for the fire chief within established personnel parameters.
