The Harris County Board of Education opened a special session May 14 and held a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, and no members of the public spoke.
Dr. Finney told the board that the FY27 budget "has been published in the Harris County Journal" and that a copy is available for public review at the central office. "I've had no one contact me to speak on the budget," he said during the hearing.
Chair (speaker S1) asked for a motion to approve the special session agenda for the FY27 budget public hearing; the motion passed. With no comments from the public, the chair then entertained and accepted a motion to adjourn the May 14 special session public hearing.
The board noted the budget will remain available for public inspection at district offices and in the newspaper. No formal budget vote or adoption was recorded during the May 14 hearing; the board indicated the matter will proceed through the district's normal adoption process at subsequent meetings.
