Capital Area Greenbelt Association updates Swatara commissioners on trail work and stream restorations

She described recently completed stream restorations and a current rerouting and trail construction project with roughly $2 million in fundraising for a segment through South Harrisburg. She also noted a partial trail closure for construction and described parking and detour arrangements for walkers and cyclists.
Krypus presented an appreciation award to President Ellis for three years of service to the association and asked the township to consider appointing a municipal liaison to Kaga’s board so that residents and staff have a direct contact in township government.
“Kaga is an all‑volunteer nonprofit organization that has been maintaining, protecting, and improving the Greenbelt for over 30 years,” Krypus said, noting the organization’s use of volunteers and inter‑municipal partnerships to manage projects.
The board thanked Krypus for the update and encouraged continued collaboration on trail maintenance and intersection safety improvements.
What’s next: Kaga will continue trail construction and restoration projects, and the association asked the township to consider naming a liaison to its board.
