Nick Grosa told the North Huntingdon Township Board of Commissioners on Aug. 20 that he was taken into custody by township police on July 27, 2025 without a warrant or an affidavit establishing probable cause.
"That detention was not supported by any warrant or affidavit of probable cause," Grosa said, adding that the affidavit in the record was dated the following day. He said officers processed him and another person before charges existed and that officers told them they would receive summonses. "Before charges even existed ... we were processed. Our property was seized and we were kicked out the front door," he said.
Grosa said paperwork later showed a fingerprint order requiring him to appear for fingerprinting, which he said indicated the initial handling of the July 27 incident was improper. He also said additional charges tied to a July 16 meeting were filed on Aug. 12 and described that filing as "retaliatory charging" and "malicious prosecution."
Grosa called the posted "no recording" sign in a township building a "scare tactic" with "no force of law," accused officials of disregarding constitutional safeguards and urged the board to recognize that their authority derives from the people.
The board did not announce any immediate action in response to Grosa’s comments during public input. Manager Faulk and other officials later conducted routine business and votes on the meeting agenda. Grosa asked that his property be returned and said he intends to pursue the matter further.
