Bristol Fourth of July committee says parade, fireworks and visiting ships are on track

Camille Texera, the general chair of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, told the Administrator’s Table the committee is "in good shape" and proceeding with plans for Flag Day, the parade, fireworks and related events.
"Everything is going according to plan," Texera said, describing Flag Day (Friday, June 14) at the Town Common as the official kickoff and confirming the parade will follow on July 4. She said fireworks are scheduled for the night of July 3 so volunteers can rest before parade duties the next day.
Texera outlined volunteer requirements and how to apply: volunteers must complete an application, pass a BCI (background check) and commit to attending three meetings and working the day of the parade. She said the committee is recruiting people of varying comfort levels and skills to help run events and called on residents to sign up via the Bristol Fourth of July website.
On military participation, Texera said, with assistance from U.S. Sen. Jack Reed’s office and state representatives, the committee expects a Coast Guard fast response cutter and a naval combat ship to visit for the celebration. She said organizers have been asked to keep some logistics confidential until details are finalized.
Texera also previewed ancillary events, including a carnival (starting June 21), a Zumbathon fundraiser and Family Fun Day on June 15, and encouraged the community to attend and volunteer.
