The Village of Mariemont Council voted to adopt a supplemental appropriation to permit spending of $280,000 received from the MPF fund, allocating $250,000 for Dogwood Park renovation and $30,000 for Dale Park.
Kelly told council, "we received a check from MPF for $280,000. $250,000 of that was towards Dogwood, and $30,000 of it was for Dale Park." Because the funds have been deposited, Kelly said the village must appropriate the money before it can be spent; the supplemental appropriation (ordinance 0126) was presented to create the spending authority.
During the meeting council moved to adopt the ordinance and to invoke the emergency clause so the village could begin work; the ordinance and the emergency clause passed by voice vote. Councilmembers recorded aye votes and the ordinance was adopted at third reading.
The action sets up separate funds for the two parks and authorizes staff to begin using the donated MPF funds for renovation and treatment work as previously discussed. The record shows council expects staff to manage open enrollment and fund accounting as required for the appropriation.
