Orange County School Board approves four-year superintendent contract and several personnel measures

The Orange County School Board approved a four-year appointment for the superintendent, effective July 1, 2026, and ratified personnel actions after a closed-session review on May 18.

Board members reconvened in open session following a closed meeting held under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act to discuss personnel matters and the superintendent contract. The board certified the closed meeting and then voted on personnel recommendations presented by staff. The personnel agenda included nonrenewals, resignations, transfers, salary adjustments and approvals for extracurricular and summer-school staff.

The board also approved a motion to adopt a new four-year employment agreement for the superintendent that will replace the existing contract as of June 30, 2026. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Board members did not name the motion maker for the superintendent appointment on the record; the motion text presented to the board specified the effective dates and that the new agreement would supersede the existing contract.

The board took no further action on policy changes that staff flagged for June 15 consideration. The meeting adjourned after remaining agenda items were addressed.
